Start of the trip
A great trip down to Devil's Cove and Lake Mead. One of the farthest points south in the Gold Butte area. The trip is 106 miles long (round trip) and took 6 1/2 hrs. to complete. Thanks again to "Bud" Leland Sanders & the St. George Jeeper's for this trip report.

Leaving Interstate 15 at Exit 112 just South of Mesquite, NV. in the desert you cross the Virgin River and continue on to Whitney Pockets on the New Gold Butte Rd. This trip is to the middle of nowhere, to the extreme! You can get a view of Devil's Cove, but it is no longer attached to Lake Mead or the Colorado River. Fantastic Scenery and wildlife. This is one trip you'll want to plan on doing. Photos, maps and GPX tracks provided. Map below.
