Greg Watson (photo above) is taking us on a trip in the desert to the Trona Pinnacles and an old freighting station that was active in the late 1800's. Accompanied by Dan McClung. Called Remi Nadeau's Dry Station (probably named this because of a lack of water). Remi Nadeau was one of the early freighters that hauled gold, silver and borax to shipping terminals and mining supplies and water to mines in the area.
If this alien landscape looks familiar, you might have seen it on "Lost in Space", "Planet of the Apes", "Star Trek V", "The Final Frontier", or a couple of commercials. See the map below for the location of the Trona Pinnacles.

One thing we noticed in Greg's photos and haven't ever seen anywhere else is the excavated tunnel that could have been a mine or residence at the base of one of the pinnacles. Photo in the slideshow!

The Trona Pinnacles are fairly well known, but you'll find this is an interesting, new way to look at the scenery and other things of interest in the area. You should be able to easily find them with the maps provided. Thanks to Greg Watson for sharing this adventure in the Mojave Desert.
