Grand Canyon, Arizona

Google Map

This is an active Maps.google Satellite Map. You can zoom in  / out and change the formats to Street Map or Terrain; drag the map to scroll. Try it!        Shown here - Grand Canyon.

One of the first sights seen from the South Rim is pretty spectacular! The size of the canyon is immense and of course this why they get so many visitors to the Grand Canyon every day. Day Trips here are explerienced by people from all walks of life and from countries all over the world. Truly one of the most spectacular places in the desert!
Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon
Another view of the Grand Canyon. You can see here how mountainous the far side of the Grand Canyon really is. In the desert erosion plays a big part with the landscape; as can be seen here.
Grand Canyon
Two more spectacular views of the Grand Canyon. It's hard to imagine that mostly water created this gigantic hole in the desert.

Here's Linda's sneakers as she sits on the edge of a big drop-off. Most places have railings for your safety. This one did not! What a view!
Grand Canyon
Now here is the view she had while sitting on the edge of the Grand Canyon. On clear days you can see for miles. It's hard to believe something like this exists in the desert.
Now notice there isn't any railings in some places like here. Linda is taking it all in. She's also responsible for a lot of the photographs taken here. There are a lot of motels just South of the Grand Canyon in the town of Williams. They also have a neat trip on a old time railroad. Plane and helicopter day trips are also available here.

Raven
The Raven; the clown in the desert. They are for the most part larger than their cousin the Crow and their beaks are much broader than that of a Crow. They are also the garbage men in the desert; the clowns, the hecklers, and the nest robbers!  Look at the photo below; a squirrel was also enjoying the view?
Now if your really paying attention, you'll get to see some of the wildlife here in the Grand Canyon which is not unlike what you'll find in the desert in other areas. However the scenery here in the Grand Canyon is going to be hard to beat -- as far as Canyons go. For size and shear immensity it's overwhelming! As far as day trips go this is one no one should miss.
                             Have fun....

South Rim

Everyone's heard of the Grand Canyon, and we've all seen photos like the ones above. But to really appreciate how immense it is, you have to see it in person. Everybody should see this natural wonder.
