Long Storage Rations
If you don't want to buy complete meals with heater packs for your trips in the desert, then here is another alternative with a 25 year shelf life and the best part -- great taste! There are a lot of dehydrated foods available, some are small expensive packs and some just don't have any taste at all. So why do we recommend these, because we've tried them and they are great tasting, have more volume (each pack will easily feed two people or more) and they last for a long time. Also because they are dehydrated, they come in a small easy to store or carry sealed pouch or bucket. Each one with an expiration date (see the photos below).
We tried the samples in the efoods DIRECT and WOW it's hard to believe that could taste that good. And the consistancy was good also.
We looked at some of the coffee can sized dehydrated foods in a local department store and they were expensive, so when you try them, your put out quite a little bit of money. But with efoods Direct and Daily Bread you can try them cheaply. Their trial packages change - so visit their web site for more info. Carry enough water with you and use it for survival food on your trips in the desert. The packets are small but will expand to a very large meal when you add boiling water to the pouch ingredients. Boil for 15 minutes, let it stand for 5 minutes and you've got a great tasting meal. You'll also need a stove. It is also recommended that you try Heater Meals for an easy solution for daytrips in the desert.
Don't believe me -- just try it yourself HERE
This doesn't look like a lot, but when mixed with the water this can fill a large casserole dish. Plenty for 2 people for a really filling meal. And they taste great. No fillers, chemicals, or preservatives added! 25 year shelf life! They often have trail offers on their site!
Here's another one we tried. They may have a free sample? They did however only supply one packet. In our case it was Chicken a la King. It was very tasty. It did take us a while to get a free sample and their prices are not as reasonable as efoods. Of course you should look into this yourself if you are considering stocking up on food for an emergency. They both last for nearly 25 years and are packed conveniently. Pictured below is the auto emergency kit.
Two different brands listed below -- we've tried both.
Prices may change so we won't quote prices here -- our suggestion -- go to the web sites, get a sample and see what the prices, quality and taste is like to you. Everyone's tastes are different. We thought they were both great!
