If you don't want to buy complete meals with heater packs for your trips in the desert, then here is another alternative with a 25 year shelf life and the best part -- great taste! There are a lot of dehydrated foods available, some are small expensive packs and some just don't have any taste at all. So why do we recommend these, because we've tried them and they are great tasting, have more volume (each pack will easily feed two people or more) and they last for a long time. Also because they are dehydrated, they come in a small easy to store or carry sealed pouch or bucket. Each one with an expiration date (see the photos below).
We have never tried any of these, but they are highly recommended. Let us know what they are like!

While looking into this we found that a lot of the original companies that make these dried foods has gone out of business, why? Don't know but that would make us cautious. Do some research to see if these are reliable outfits.  Good luck!
