Plug-in, Review by in the desert
ReMask 3 works with Paint Shop Pro X 4 now. Many times we've made masks the old fashion way by laboriously painting the masks by hand with the images at 200 or 300% so we could include fine details. We've used other masking technics in imaging programs too. By far the fastest and best way to make a mask is now ReMask 3 by Topaz. To use the program you need to spend just a little time watching the video included here to learn how to best benefit from the program. So why would you want to use a mask? Below is an example of an advertisement we did for a Toyota Dealer.
I've always been a proponent of taking photos of pretty skies and saving them to enhance a photo with a drab sky. I have hundreds of sky photos in a folder called "Sky Backgrounds" just for this purpose. Below is one such photo that I recently used. If you mouse over this "sky background" you'll see the photo that I wanted to put this sky into. Then if you click on it you'll see the final result.
Even at this smaller size you can see what a quick masking job the program is capable of. And this is really complicated because of the different colors and shades involved here. Look at the original photo of the toy on the table at the fair. The tire that's in front the man's blue jeans for example. The program had no trouble separating the two. This was done quickly without any refinements. You couldn't ask for a better result.
Try the "Trial Version" you won't be sorry you did. This is a great addition to your imaging program and will make this type of work quick and easy. Watch the above video for more info.
Great Plug-in, give it a try HERE
This was done the old way by painting a mask with a brush in an imaging program. We did this to add the Desert Bighorn Sheep Ram to the photo and then to make it even more realistic we added a rock back into the photo to partially cover up the Ram's hind legs. Not an easy thing to do and it took hours to accomplish doing it that way.
At the time we did this it was the only way it could be accomp-
lished. Now we have ReMask 3 which would have made it so much easier and quicker to finish. Below is one of the images we started with. It took weeks to get a nice photo of a Ram to add into the project.
You may want to just improve your photography by using a masking device, and with this program it's now not only possible but it's really easy to do. And as a plug-in it's not eating up a lot of resources from your computer and not taking a lot of your valuable time either. You really need to watch the video below.
Just painting a mask around a smooth mountain top is not that hard, but as soon as you add trees into the mix it adds a lot of time to masking. Not with ReMask 3. This was a very quick process which only took about 20 minutes to complete. Remember this was a first attempt at using the program so it took a little longer than it would now to accomplish the same thing.
This vehicle could have been placed in a better photo or situation. But it does demonstrate what can be done with the masking.
Just so you realize what we're dealing with here. The original photo was taken at a fair where they were selling these model 4X4's. This one was about 14 inches long and maybe 6 or 7 inches high.
ReMask 3 Video Tutorial
This video tutorial is almost unbelievable, but it is true and does work exactly the way it's shown here. Just watching how this plug-in performs is amazing.
