   Utah's first explorers were Franciscan friars in 1776. Jim Bridger a Great American frontiersman discovered the Great Salt Lake in 1824. The Mormons arrived in 1847 and began building Salt Lake City. Utah is a leading producer in copper, gold, and silver. Best places to visit in the desert are as follows: Zion, Bryce Canyon, and St. George in the desert.
