New Castle, Old Spanish Trail
Enterprise, Beryl, Pinto, Utah
Our first attempt to find the Hamblin Cemetery in the desert was a bust! Well not completely, we got to see some new scenery and follow the Old Spanish Trail for a short distance in an area just South of New Castle. You'll find a link to that trip HERE. So we planned another trip to find this old cemetery and historic site and "Bud", Leland Sanders and Carol came along with us. This was a very scenic trip, along with the many we've taken to find old burial sites in the desert. Most explorers in the desert look for old mining sites, old towns, cabins, caves, unique rock formations and old Grave sites / Cemeteries. This was our goal!

Hamblin Cemetery Topography Map
We left out of New Castle and followed a previous track, which came to a dead end. Then we detoured and took Meadow Canyon Rd. Southeast and headed up to the Hamblin Historic Site and Cemetery. When this didn't work we went to the town of Enterprise and South on Rt. 18 to Pinto Rd. then turned into Meadow Canyon Rd and headed North. After this we continued on Pinto Rd to the town of Pinto and on to Rt. 56. Follow this on the enlarged map or for the best results downoad the GPX track. For the complete story see the video above!

This trip ran through some really muddy spots on trails not often used by anybody. Bud got to christen his new 4x4 truck and it did really well. Bud and Carol are always a pleasure to explore with! This area had other trails we didn't explore, but maybe you could?
