Having a fishing partner!
Does he or she get bored? If so find someone else. Fishing in the desert won't be as much fun, no competition and no lies, or should I say exaggerations. All fisherman exaggerate, we'll show you the best way to do this. Try and find a partner that will make sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, iced tea --- wow that's starting to sound like your wife. Good idea, if she likes to fish.
Here's a perfect example, I catch a nice bass that weighs in at 3 pounds and Linda catches this nice bass that weighs in at 4.5 pounds. It is a competition! Okay but it works out, I usually catch more fish and she catches the biggest fish. Both these were caught on the Colorado River just north of Martinez Lake, Arizona.

Here's where a partner comes in handy as you will need help carrying all that fishing tackle. So when you choose a partner find one that's at least fairly well fit. And never let them bring your fish in, if you hooked it, you have to bring it in. Otherwise they'll say they caught it. Don't forget the competition.
This may look like the lazy mans way to fish, but you'll soon learn that it's not. Keeping the trailer and boat in good shape, with washing the rig all the time is quite a chore. Here's another place where a partner gets a chance to help out. Also useful for tying up to docks and loading and unloading the boat on the trailer, etc.

Bass Fishing

Here's the kind of fish you want your partner to catch. A carp. Of course if  you're unlucky like me, then your partner will be constantly catching all the big really nice game fish. Don't let this discourage you, your turn is coming - any day now. We can kid about this cause it is one of the most fun hobbies you could have, sometimes there's even a big reward.

Exaggeration -- above is a perfect example. Now several people that looked at this photo have guessed that this fish weighed at least 8 pounds. Why? Perspective, that's why. Look at fish photos on fishing sites on the Internet - see how many are being held just like Linda is holding this one, with her arms extended toward the camera? The camera should be in wide angle mode or using a wide angle lens. This makes the fish look bigger compared to the person holding it. Don't forget the next time you catch a nice fish and want to have your partner photograph it for you. Exaggerate a little! This bass weighed in at 4.5 lbs.

Always control the fishing situation. What do I mean?  Don: "You fish over there honey it's a better place to fish" Keep the best spots for yourself, remember this is a competition, one that you have to win. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. If you fish with another guy, this still pertains to you.
Let's get serious!
Nice 4 pound bass with a really nice 2 pound crappie. Crappie and smallmouth bass are often caught in the same places where you'll catch the largemouth bass. Many times the same lures or bait will work for all 3 species of fish. Crappie are good eating but do have more bones than bass do. Largemouth caught at higher elevations will also taste better than ones caught at lower elevations and in warmer climates.
This is one of the bass's favorite foods. Crayfish. It's also one of mine. Similar to eating small lobsters. In some lakes/reservoirs you may find them as big as this one. It measured 6 inches long from head to tail. In some places they get even bigger. Easy to catch with a small piece of rotten chicken on a string and a long handled net.
